Golden Visa

Golden Visa

Several significant changes have been introduced to the Golden Visa scheme, aimed at streamlining eligibility criteria and broadening the scope of eligible applicants. This enhancement enables individuals such as investors, scientists, academics, frontline workers, and entrepreneurs to apply for this extended-duration visa.

Under these amendments, Golden Visa holders now possess the authority to sponsor their spouses and children, irrespective of their age, and can also sponsor support services (domestic help) without any restrictions. Additionally, the Golden Residency program no longer imposes limitations on the duration of stay outside the UAE.

In the unfortunate event of the primary holder of a UAE Golden Visa passing away, family members retain the right to reside in the country until the expiry of the permit.

Types of Golden Visa

The residency offer by the Emirates Scientists Council is for high-achieving scientists and researchers who:

  • Graduated from top universities in engineering, technology, life sciences, or natural sciences.
  • Hold a Ph.D. or master’s degree.
  • Have significant research accomplishments.

In this field, which encompasses various specializations, veterinary doctors are included. Doctors need a letter certifying their medical practice from their country’s Health Authority or Ministry of Health to be eligible.

Professionals in fields like medicine, science, engineering, IT, business, law, and culture can qualify for Golden Residence based on:

  1. A valid UAE employment contract.
  2. Classification in ISCO’s first or second level by the Ministry of Human Resources.
  3. Monthly salary exceeding Dhs30,000.
  4. Meeting specified educational criteria.

The Golden Visa is extended to entrepreneurs meeting flexible administrative regulations. The minimum requirements include:

  1. Startups in the SME category must be registered in the country with annual revenue exceeding AED 1 million.
  2. Approval of the startup idea by an official business incubator and the Ministry of Economy or relevant local authorities for Golden Visa eligibility.
  3. Founders (or co-founders) of an entrepreneurial project sold for no less than AED 7 million.
  4. Approval by the Ministry of Economy or relevant local authority for any project or idea.

The ministry has unveiled a novel 10-year cultural visa aimed at fostering culture and creativity. This visa encompasses a wide array of fields, such as music, fine arts, photography, film, video production, video game production, fashion, graphic design, product design, landscape design, architectural services, advertising services, and information technology, including software development.
